Terms of use
Please read these terms before using the Zandrel website. By using the site you agree to them.
1. About these terms
These terms govern your use of the website at www.zandrel.id (the “Site”), published by Zandrel Editorial, Jalan Bunga Raya No. 25, Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta Selatan, DKI Jakarta 12160, Indonesia. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
These terms apply to everyone who visits the Site, whether or not they send us a message. The Site is intended for adults aged 18 and over. Reading the Site is free; there are no accounts, subscriptions or purchases, so these terms do not create a commercial contract for goods or services. They sit alongside four other documents that are part of the same set of rules: the privacy policy, the cookie policy, the medical disclaimer and the advertising disclosure. If one of them is more specific than these terms on a subject, the more specific document applies to that subject.
The Site is hosted by Amazon Web Services in its Asia Pacific (Jakarta) region. The hosting provider supplies infrastructure only and is not a party to these terms, nor responsible for the content of the Site.
2. Information only, not medical advice
The Site provides general information about health topics. It is not medical advice and does not create a doctor-patient relationship. Nothing on the Site should be used to diagnose, treat or prevent any condition, or to delay seeking professional care. Please read our medical disclaimer, which forms part of these terms.
As an example, an article may explain what a blood pressure reading means and when public health bodies suggest a check. It does not tell a reader whether their own reading needs treatment, and it should not be used to decide that. Likewise, a description of a sleep or movement routine is an illustration of what is commonly discussed, not an instruction to follow regardless of your health. If you have symptoms or a medical question, contact a licensed professional. In an emergency, call 119 or go to the nearest hospital emergency department.
3. Permitted use
You may read the Site and print or share individual articles for personal, non-commercial use, provided that you keep the source and date visible. You agree not to:
- copy, republish or sell substantial parts of the Site without written permission;
- present our content as medical advice from a named professional;
- use automated tools to harvest content at a volume that affects the Site's operation;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site or its systems;
- send unlawful, defamatory, abusive or misleading messages through the contact form.
The following points explain what this means in everyday use:
- Sharing. You may share a link to any page with friends, family or colleagues, by message, email or on social media. You may also print a page for yourself or to bring to a medical appointment.
- Quoting. A short quotation of up to about 100 words is welcome when it is credited to Zandrel with the title of the article and a link. Longer extracts, or copying a whole article, need written permission.
- Teaching and discussion. Teachers, community groups and workplace wellbeing teams may use short extracts in non-commercial sessions with credit. They may not suggest that Zandrel has endorsed their programme, product or organisation.
- Automated access. Search engines may index the Site in line with the instructions in the robots file. Other automated tools should keep their request rate low enough that they do not slow the Site for readers, and should identify themselves where possible.
- Security. Testing the Site for weaknesses without our permission is not allowed. If you find a security problem by accident, please tell us at [email protected] and do not share the details publicly until we have had a chance to fix it.
4. Intellectual property
Text, layout, graphics and the Zandrel name and mark are owned by or licensed to Zandrel Editorial and are protected under Indonesian copyright law (Law No. 28 of 2014) and other applicable laws. Short quotations with attribution and a link to the original article are welcome for commentary and education.
The protection covers articles, headlines, summaries, the glossary, tables, page design, photographs and illustrations on the Site. Some images are licensed to us for use on the Site only, which means that you may not download and reuse them elsewhere even if you may quote the text. Names and marks of other organisations, such as government agencies and professional societies, belong to those organisations and are used only to identify them.
To ask for permission to reuse content, write to [email protected] with a description of what you would like to use, where and for how long. We reply within ten working days. Permission is given in writing and may include a requirement for credit or for a correction notice to be shown with the content. Copyright in anything you send us remains yours, but you give us permission to use it as described in section 7.
5. Accuracy and updates
We take care to keep content accurate and show the date of publication and of last review on each article. Health knowledge changes, and we cannot guarantee that every article reflects the latest guidance at the moment you read it. We may change or remove content at any time.
Articles are reviewed at least once a year. If we find a factual error, we correct the text, update the review date and, where the change is significant, add a note saying what was changed. If an article is withdrawn because it is out of date and cannot be updated, we will say so on the page instead of leaving it unchanged. Availability of the Site is also not constant: we may take it offline briefly for maintenance, and short interruptions can happen for reasons outside our control, such as problems with the hosting provider or with internet connections.
6. External links
Articles link to third-party sites such as government agencies and professional societies. We select them with care but do not control them and are not responsible for their content or availability. A link is not an endorsement of every statement on the linked site.
We do not receive payment for links, and a link does not mean that the other organisation has reviewed or approved our content. Web addresses change, and a linked page may move or be removed after we last checked it; we review links at least every six months, and you can tell us about a broken link through the contact page. You are welcome to link to our pages. Please link to the page itself and describe it accurately, and please do not display our pages inside a frame on another site or imply a partnership with us. If you are the owner of a site we link to and would like a link changed or removed, write to us and we will respond within ten working days.
7. Messages you send us
If you send a message through the contact form, you confirm that the information is yours to share. We will handle personal data as set out in the privacy policy. We may use suggestions or corrections you send to improve the Site without owing any payment.
The contact form is for questions about the publication, corrections, permission requests and privacy requests. It is not monitored for urgent medical matters, and we cannot give individual health advice through it. Please do not send medical records, identity numbers or information about other people without their agreement. We may decline to reply to messages that are abusive, repetitive or unrelated to the Site, and we may delete them. Messages are kept for 24 months after the last reply, as described in the privacy policy, and we reply to ordinary messages within five working days.
8. Limits of liability
To the extent permitted by Indonesian law, Zandrel Editorial is not liable for any loss arising from your reliance on information on the Site, from interruptions to the Site, or from content on third-party sites. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for intentional misconduct or gross negligence.
To make this more concrete:
- We do not accept responsibility for decisions about your health, diet, exercise, medicines or tests that you make by relying on the Site instead of professional advice.
- We are not liable for temporary unavailability, errors in transmission, or software or device problems on your side that arise while using the Site.
- We are not liable for loss caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including outages at hosting, power or network providers.
- We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content or availability of other websites that we link to.
- Where Indonesian consumer protection law, including Law No. 8 of 1999, gives you rights that apply to your situation, these terms do not remove them.
If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. If we do not insist on a term on one occasion, that does not mean we have given up the right to do so later.
9. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia, including Law No. 11 of 2008 on Electronic Information and Transactions as amended. We encourage you to contact us first at [email protected] so that a concern can be resolved informally. Any dispute that cannot be resolved this way is subject to the jurisdiction of the District Court of South Jakarta (Pengadilan Negeri Jakarta Selatan).
The informal route works as follows. You write to us describing the concern and what outcome you would like, and we acknowledge the message within five working days. The managing editor then reviews the matter and replies with a proposed resolution within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can ask for the editor-in-chief to review it, and we aim to answer within a further 15 working days. If the concern is still open, the parties may agree to try mediation before either goes to court. Starting this process does not stop you from using any legal right that you have, and it does not extend any legal deadline that applies to you. A Bahasa Indonesia translation of these terms is available on request.
10. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they were last changed, and continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
For changes that affect your rights in a significant way, we will place a notice on the home page for at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Smaller edits, such as corrections of wording, are made without notice but are recorded here.
